To kickstart the new week, Shams Charania announced that he'll be taking his talents to ESPN. With Adrian Wojnowrowski's departure, who is also Charania's former mentor, it was only right to fill the vacant role with someone worthy of doing so. Turning down offers from the likes of NBC, Overtime and Turner, Shams will become ESPN's Senior NBA Insider.
"I'm excited to join ESPN's NBA coverage and all of the talented people here. My goal is to continue to raise the bar and take our coverage to another level." - Shams Charania
At just 30 years old, Charania is the youngest lead insider in ESPN's history. On the flip side, this the sports media giant's first time working with a major talent with over 3.2 million followers on X and Instagram.
In addition to his new, highly coveted role, Charania will also be on-air for NBA coverage on various network programs such as SportsCenter, NBA Today, NBA Countdown, Get Up and The Pat McAfee Show.
Once rivaling Woj's quick, NBA news-breaking style, it will be interesting to see how Shams makes the role uniquely his.
